Apparently I took this question way too seriously! After a lot of thought, my favorite city is...

Corning (it's all about the olives!)

Not a bad choice, I mean, they do have a Casa Ramos and a Safeway.

Wait, I think I just found heaven, and that heaven is called Weed.

Look at the cheap gas, and amazing eateries!

Oakland, great weather, great food, diversity, not too big, and beautiful views. It also has great topography, it's really hilly but not overly hilly like San Francisco which can get inconvenient at times.

I just checked out Weed. Up in the rainy zone. Lumber industry, plywood, etc. How's the air around there? The air in parts of Oregon gets unbreathable when the pulp mills are going strong. I can see how Mt. Shasta and redwood country would be a draw, though. There's a lake in one of the communities bordering Weed, too. Is the Hupa Valley Rez in Siskiyou County? Any Injuns up there?

Don't know the answers to any of those questions, but I've always been a fan of Siskiyou County in my numerous trips between So Cal and Wet WA.

I do know that the area is quite economically depressed.

I'd love to get up there and look around. I haven't been to Shasta. The whole area sounds beautiful, though.

San Francisco, Pacifica, South Lake Tahoe, Arcata, Santa Cruz... I've lived in all but the last two, and would happily live in any of them again (or for the first time)! Sadly, my job forced me to move to the South Bay two years ago, and I'm not so happy here. Too hot & far from the ocean!!
