Default FT Hunter Liggett

Looking for communities to live in near Ft. Hunter Liggett on the central coast, have seen that Salinas is a big no-no. Any ideas on nice communities to raise a family within an hour commute where I can get a decent house for around $400K?

Paso Robles is about it for nice communities. If you want rural Jolon, Lockwood, Nacimiento areas have rural parcels reasonable by California standards.

Anywhere between Atascadero and Paso Robles would be a nice place to live. Especially if you have a boat, since Nacimiento Lake and Lake San Antonio practically border each other.

Although, Nacimiento and San Antonio are the best the Central Coast has, if you come from an area with lakes, don't get your hopes up. They are a far cry from Lake of the Ozarks, or Lake Lanier,

Lockwood is a nice area but it's basically acreage. Paso Robles is also a nice area and is about an hour away from Fort Hunter Liggett. San Miguel is a growing community with new homes going up and is about 10 miles closer. It gets very hot in these areas during the summer so make sure you have air conditioning.

Best wishes with your search. My husband commutes 75 miles each way everyday to Camp Roberts, so driving a long distance can be done though with the price of gas going up it's rough.
