Going to SLT on business next week. Area and hotels look amazing.

Someone recommended the Marriott there, and it looks great, but I sometimes prefer the older, motel type, especially one closer to the lake and the beach.

Is anyone passionate about any particular place and would recommend it?

Aside from proximity to the lake and beach, something with either a good hotel bar or close to any bars and restaurant would be preferable.

Thanks!

I've been able to show up at Tahoe and find a beachfront motel or condo on the spur-the-moment, even in summer. If you can't find anything by Googling, I wouldn't worry about it.

For a cool retro experience check out the Stardust Lodge. You can walk to the beach and walk to bars and restaurants.

I've stayed at the Marriot. Five Star place, five star price. Luckily my friend has a time share there so I didn't have to pay.
