I'm so excited! I got my application approval letter in the mail today from Hotel Redding in downtown Redding. It's a subsidized senior housing apt bldg - they refurbished the old hotel.

Anyway, my application has been approved, and now I'm on the waiting list! Yahoo!

Now it's just a waiting game.

Default I'm in! Retiring in Redding next month woo hoo!

Woo hoo! I got called when they got an opening, went through their very thorough screening process, which took nearly 2 weeks...and got the call yesterday to offer me an apartment! Yay!

Look out Redding, here I come!

It's a really tiny studio, but is a corner apartment on the 2nd floor with a view of the theater across the street and a tree on the other side. Very pretty. Very tiny, but all mine - and I can even get a dog.

I understand Redding can get a bit of snow, though, so I may need to change my name to LessSnowForMe lol!

Congrads - so you're going to be leaving beautiful Santa Clara - but Redding is nice, too!

Thanks everyone. Yes, as always, nothing is perfect. But Redding is a place I can afford. It' so pretty there. I used to live in the Pacific Northwest and loved how pretty it is, but hated the weather. Redding seems like the perfect in-between. Hotter than I like in the summer, but not as cold as I hate in the winter. A good compromise.

Today when I drove up, it was clear, though hazy because of the controlled burning of the rice fields in the Yolo County area, and plowing of fields in the same area. The air was so much better once I got all the way to Redding. And I could see Mt. Shasta, though was still a bit hazy! Hardly any snow on it! Last time I saw it, it was all white. Last week when I drove up, it was overcast, so couldn't see it. The manager of my new apt bldg said it will soon be all white again.

Yes, there are a lot of homeless people that I could see. But, I think I'll be fine. And it's so pretty. And affordable :-)
