Anyway, I have never used marijuana and never will, but I find it highly hypocritical that alcohol and tobacco, which we know to cause countless deaths and billions of dollars in health care costs, and yet this President treats marijuana like its sooooo much worse.

The chart is interesting but I can't help wonder if the $$$ spent is more about the President and not the reason. Aren't democrats the party of tax and spend?

i have to admit to not being too keen on the idea of obama becoming president back in 2008, but i must say his stance and actions on alot of things have won me over to an extent.

the flip flopping on guay marriage did irk me, but i realise its got to be about politics instead of values sometimes, and that he was ticking off his base quite a bit thru his socially conservative positions.

My sense is there's a higher level of enforcement spending because in recent years there was poor self-monitoring by the dispensaries. I honestly don't care if people smoke pot, but can anyone deny without coyness the rampant flouting of medical marijuana legalization? I have also worked with the alcohol industry, and if anyone wishes to draw an equivalence then take a look at the MASSIVE code and tax enforcement involved in it. So legalized marijuana wants the same treatment. Take the same treatment then.

Even though I'm in favor of medical MJ, the farce that has become the "process" just shows how ludicrous the entire thing has become.

Thank goodness we are winning the war on drugs.

Supremacy clause at work (damned inconvenient Constitution - such a drag when it doesn't play nice with one's pet causes). Of course during the Bush presidency there were fewer federal actions against "medical" marijuana, it was illegal by state law in many more places at the time. Until federal law is changed there is no such thing as legal marijuana, just lax local enforcement in certain places.
