I'm already hearing it being said that President Obama's choice of replacement will let us know if he's serious about border security or not.

About Napolitano getting this job? Total shock. Wonder how long she's been trying to leave that job?

And, this is a govenment job. Was it posted for a certain length of time? Was there a qualifications exam? Real job seekers want to know if she was hired properly and that all eligible candidates were given a chance to respond to the job posting. I smell the strong aroma of cronyism here! Hummmmmm

How many current job seekers do you think are qualified for the President of the University of California system?

I imagine thee are quite a few both within California and certainly in other states who could be wooed with a large salary and great benefits.

I'm not aware of anything in her background that qualifies her for such a lofty post in academe (no past positions) other than name recognition that will help pull in donations to the system while others do the real work to keep the system operating and se is, of course, of the proper political persuasion..

On the Tom Sullivan show yesterday, he interviewed a man who was in the selection process. He said there were 319 applicants, and she was short-listed because of her experience as governor. Apparently, she placed great importance on higher education in Arizona, and she was shown to have the ability to work with all the parts of the state, legislature, etc.

The last person's salary was over $500,000 a year, they don't know what salary she was hired at.
