Hello everyone I have been doing much reading on California's stringent emissions program.

I'm planning on moving to Long Beach, CA in a few months with my sister. We are on a very limited budget and this emissions issue has been haunting me for weeks now.

My vehicle is a 1989 k1500 5.7 V8 TBI - A lot of you will wonder why I am even bringing it, but it is in very good operational condition.

In the state I am locating from it is not required to test this vehicle for emissions.

I'm uncertain how the truck will fair with the stock emission components that it has in it. ( See Below for emission components )

I plan on doing all the normal tune-ups dist cap, wires, plugs etc.

Will I even be capable of passing the emissions with the stock components?

This is the label under my hood for the emissions hose routing.

I don't know anything about cars. The Bureau of Automotove Repair has a website where you can plug in your VIN and it will tell you how other cars of your make/model have passed--or not. Plus they have Smog Check Referee's that are very helpful and will explain exactly what is needed to get it to pass. In certain circumstances, they will do an exemption, but I don't think that is very common.

The link is: VEHICLE AVERAGE PASSING EMISSION LOOK UP

Well I used the link you gave me below and tried a random smog station with my vin and I got this:

Noooo---it means that it only keeps the records for cars of your same make and model in their little database for 180 days. So there's no cars to compare it to.

Edit: Actually, that's what I think it means, but I just emailed somebody over at BAR to ask. I'll reply here again when I get a response.
