All of the local plating shops are now gone... and the State says good riddance.

The premier surfboard builders in California suffered a nearly fatal blow when board building became regulated...

This is pretty interesting and shows that the believe that "nothing in manufactured in the U.S anymore" is a lie.
U.S. Manufacturing in Context
There is a lot of manufacturing going on in the U.S. Numerous companies that moved out of California and went overseas are now coming back to the U.S. A good example of this is Apple that will build computers in U.S. again. Problem though Apple is a California company they are opening this new factory in Texas. California is actually losing manufacturing companies, while other states are gaining them.

California needs manufacturing jobs, for millions of people, but they are not going there due to the following.

1: Extreme taxes.

2: High cost of doing business. It has been estimated it is 40% cheaper to manufacture in Dallas Texas over Los Angeles California.

3: Excessive Regulations.

4: California takes 2 to 2 1/2 years go get a permit to put in a new plant, or to expand an existing one at a cost that can run into the millions of dollars. Many states can have the permits issued within 2 weeks, and will even supply a state or city employee to help expedite the permits needed for just a few thousand total cost.

California is rated as being 48th worst to 50th state depending on who is rating it, to put a new substantial size business or manufacturing plant.

What we need to be discussing, is how can California become business friendly again.

No. What we need to be discussing is how to reduce California's population by at least half.

That would be kinda nice actually...housing prices would definitely be lower and the traffic would be much better!

And how the remaining 1/2 will pay more in taxes, since the taxes will never drop.

I no longer go boating and neither does the money I would spend each summer.

To be fair... the agency covers Nevada and California parts of Tahoe.
They never look at the long term results and .... money is lost, which includes the taxes that would have ben garnered from all the sales related to such activities.

But the half that would be leaving would be the middle class and up that pay taxes. The ones that would be there and would continue to come are the poor, who require more services. That would raise the taxes on the few actual taxpayers left in the state to very big increases to keep the poor going.

Middle class families are leaving the state, which is why K-12 schools, have gone to where they are over 50% Hispanic students, which is considerably above their share of the population.. 23% of K-12 students are English Learners meaning they do not speak and understand English well enough to take normal classes. Of these 82.7% are Spanish speakers. And 37.4% of the English Learner students are from homes where English is not spoken in their home. That is one reason that California K-12 education is down near the bottom of the whole country, and just keeps getting worse.

I've noticed a lot of the mall space is going dark...

One of the Doctors I work with has a Mall Office for eyes... he has been there almost 10 years and the office is very nice.

He's moving because the rent will go up 60% if he stays...

Makes no sense because every lease coming up is moving or just going out of business.

Have also noticed Spanish is becoming dominant... just left Bank of America and half the posters were in Spanish and just about everything on the videos playing is in Spanish...

I took German in High School... should have taken Spanish!

The posters have to be in Spanish, as Hispanic population is the predominate race in the state, and growing to the point that in less than 10 years are expected to be over half the population of the state. Over half of all K-12 students are already Hispanic, and about 1/4th of the students are in English programs to teach them English so they can do normal studies, and over 1/3rd of all students live in homes that do not speak English in the home.

In the future, you will see more and more posters, signs, instruction manuals, etc. in Spanish.
