It's nothing but a temper tantrum by right wingers upset that they have lost just like the lame talk of "Northern Colorado". It will never happen and instead it is just a pandering for votes.

About 70 years, in fact.

Let's see, take several counties in California and Oregon that are sparsely populated, have no employment base (succeeding from a state does not change Federal ownership of timber lands), have no large city, are already a half-step from bankruptcy and relying on the state to pay for things like schools, have serious infrastructure needs and high poverty levels and combine them. What do you get? A new state that should be called Rand or Libertarianville, where every resident is entirely dependent on themselves. Got kids? Build your own damned school. Potholes in the main highway or a bridge in need of repair? Pass the hat if you and your neighbors think it worthy of fixing. No sheriff, no jails? Arm yourselves and shoot to kill for the slightest infraction.

As a resident of Jackson and Klamath Counties in Oregon, I say: no thanks.

What's wrong with self-sufficiency?

I was under the impression that they'd gotten pretty far the last time. The problem was that it was to go to the Feds the first week of December, 1941. As soon as Pearl Harbor happened, it was permanently shelved as we moved into war mode.

Maybe they'll have better luck this time.

Nothing if you're in Bosnia which is what that territory would essentially be like.

Two idiotic points about this movement:

• They benefit monetarily from the productive parts of the state.
• They act as if the water belongs to them.

Just an off the wall thought.

Pot...

Isn't it the number 1 cash crop in that part of the state? What if it was legalized in that area? I wonder if it could generate the type of revenue that is generated by Nevada gambling.

The article focused on the issue of a lack of political representation in Sacramento. They may be more successful if they were represented by a recognized political affiliation in Sacramento called the "Pot Party".

A person quoted in the article was from "Happy Camp". Hmmmm
