What the hell? I am so sick of hearing of Police shootings in general but California seems to have the worst ones of all I read about.

Marchers protest Calif. deputy's shooting of boy - US news

YOU ALL NEED TO GET YOUR POLICE FORCES IN ORDER OVER THERE!

Let me give you some ideas-you could have waited a little longer, backed off, shot a tranquilizer, anything but shoot and shoot 7 times!?

Perverts, perverts with bullets. You should be disgusted with yourselves!!!

Yes. Nothing like that ever happens in Texas.

Answers sought over cops' shooting of 8th grader - CBS News

Oh, really? The exact same thing? Nevermind.

To be clear, I completely agree with your underlying point. But making this an us (Texas) vs them (California) thing is pretty stupid.

A person holding a weapon that looks real. Being told repeatedly by the police to put it down. Apparently ignores them.

If he was an innocent kid with a toy why didn't he say--"hey, it's a toy" and throw it down?

A few years ago I was finishing a lengthy neighborhood walk and further down the street I saw a guy holding what looked like the same gun as the one in this story. It looked real. I stopped and asked a man that was in his garage if he knew who the guy was--he didn't and it creeped him out too. I didn't want to walk the extra mile to go all the way around and the man ended up giving me a ride home. Turned out later it was a nearly 6-foot tall 14-year-old with a toy gun.

I'm sorry the kid for whatever reason refused to throw the gun down and didn't cooperate with the police. But to expect the police to approach a gun situation with a "it might be a toy" mindset is ridiculous.

Sorry but when a cop points his gun at you child or adult and says put down your gun well PUT DOWN YOUR GUN. Last I checked a 12 year old with a gun can pull the trigger as fast as a 30 year old with a gun. Yet the cop is at fault? How about a little personal responsibility? Its sad a 12 year old died but Jesus how f'ing stupid was he?

Or the parents' responsibility for allowing their kid to play with a plastic replica of an AK-47.

You got to love how the anti gun crowd has ripped its gums into this one. They seem to forget about all the school shootings done by young children. I believe 13 is a teenager, but most journalists this days rarely crack their AP style book.

While I support someone's right to bare arms, I'd say this country has a very unhealthy obsession with guns.
