We just moved back to CA, but in a totally different location. We are now pretty much on the border of Mendocino and Humboldt counties 70 miles n. of Ukiah and 80 miles s. of Eureka. I had hoped that I wouldn't have any health issues but a chronic back issue has reared it's ugly head and is really making life miserable. I am tired of doctors that throw pills at a problem so I'm hoping someone on here can recommend a doctor in the area that might actually think someone shouldn't be in constant pain.

My Ukiah relatives always drove down to Santa Rosa for medical care--there never seemed to be sufficient medical people in Ukiah to serve the people needing care. Maybe someone living in Eureka can comment on that area.

Don't forget, you are in the land of Medical Marijuana, which is said to be very effective for back pain. It relaxes the muscles and decreases the sensation of pain.

I would start with the county to find out about your health care options. I just got something in the mail today about California health care options with the new Obama health care reform, but I tossed it. I'm on Medi-Cal, so it didn't relate to me. But, the county health depts will know what your options are. The newsletter that I got today was from the county health dept.

I am on Medicare with the best supplemental I could get. I am not sure how my employer would feel about pot, although at this point I'd almost try anything.

I wouldn't see a doctor. See a physical therapist.

When I lived in Ukiah, I went to this guy's office. I recommend him.

I have to have a referral to a PT - but thank you for the recommendation. I found an Integrative Medicine clinic in Laytonville (WHOA) and go back in Dec. They are getting my records so we'll see what they have to say.

Thanks again. I am keeping that bookmarked.
