Very Impressive for the biggest state to be the most energy efficient! Go Cali!

I wonder how much of that is due to climate.

In Texas, we always have something running it seems. Either the air conditioner from spring to early fall, then the heater from fall until spring. It runs all day and night everyday. We even had a $1,000 bill once here. (we do have a large home though but the electric bill is huge compared to our measly $70.00 - $120.00 a month in CA.) The weather in Texas sucks!!!

In California, we rarely ran either the air or heater. Our bills were very small for the size of our home and with the beautiful weather you really never needed anything on. I lived in Ventura County and for sometime we even lived oceanfront, we didn't even have an air conditioner when we lived oceanfront. You just open your windows and the ocean breeze cooled you off.

We don't have AC either and neither do my parents (even though they really need it). It would be interesting to see some numbers that take that into account.

I agree, that'd be interesting to see. Oh, and FWIW, I didn't have a/c in my car either...

California is energy efficient probably because most people live in areas that have a Mild Climate, and we are always being fed information on tv about ways of conserving energy.
