Being a Huntington Beach native and close to both schools, I'm gonna go with UCLA.

My UCLA alum father always referred to USC as the University of Spoiled Children. Pretty much not a fun time whenever we had to watch the 2 universities play each other on television.

Depends what you want. If you're going into the film industry, USC. Most other fields go with UCLA which will cost you half as much, or less. No prospective employer will sneer at a degree from either .

I am partial, I didn't go to either school, but came close to going to USC. Hubby almost went to UCLA. I agree with Eureka, it depends on your major but if price isn't an issue there is a lot to say about USC and the alum network.

USC is in a scary part of Greater LA. UCLA is in a nice part of Greater LA. If that matters.

I work in finance/real estate and you'd be a fool to attend UCLA over USC. The Trojan network in California is STRONG. The bruin network is almost non-existent. And no USC is not in a scary part of LA. I felt safe everyday I was there - it only gets dangerous once you go miles outside of campus (except North which is just downtown) and there's no reason to be there anyway

There both good schools. UCLA is a public school and USC is private and cost more. As for the location of the two schools, it is hard to beat UCLA.
