It's not hard to be the #1 economy in the U.S. when you're the most populous state. It's a dumb statistic and you know it.
Exactly right! California has it all; great weather, diversity, culture... and because of these things we also have all the worst byproducts; crime, illegal immigration, the East coasters taking over our politics (Pelosi and Boxer are Easterners!), the largest welfare population, the core of racialism, we are the highest taxed, we voted in Moonbeam as if once wasn't enough... I mean seriously, the list goes on and on and on.

We've become the best example of why socialism fails.

Economically, and especially politically! New Zealand for me,though the Scandanavian countries are the happiest in the world.
Exactly why I said I only chose Phoenix as the best choice of the list, and made it clear that moving either further north (Canada) or south (Chile, Peru, Costa Rica) were more viable options for those who could manage it.

We are on the fast track to be free of the Constitution. Once that's gone, we will all be victims of the political class.

All this aside, I'm choosing Prescott Valley as the place I'll probably move to.

Not according to the latest info saying that 5 Northern European countries...which are ALL socialist democracies, are the happiest countries in the world!

Capitalist America is waaay down the list 19th I believe it was,I will try to find that info again.

Denmark,Norway,Switzerland,the Netherlands,Sweden,

Get happy in the world's happiest countries - CNN.com

BTW, here is another reason America SUCKS!~ If other countries let immigrants in as easily as this country does, and I could move my extended family with me,you can bet I would have left years ago!

I think lots of politicians on both sides underestimate the effect of this particular part of US history and present policy. The degree of immigration (and then naturalized citizenship) that we allow is significant, not to mention the part that is not official/documented/legal/whatever else you want to call it. And then there are the refugees we accept.

This affects a LOT of things, and I think we, as a nation, don't fully take into account its effects as much as we ought to (both the negative and the positive).

It affects our notions of education, healthcare, jobs (both in terms of sucking brains out of other countries and the idea that they're "taking away" jobs), language issues in the public sphere (schools, politics/elections) and so on. Especially in CA.

And I say this as a child of immigrants.

Really? Aside from the fact that we are not socialist of course.

While I am rather impressed with our Constitution I am also aware that there are many examples of greatly successful and enduring governance around the world and throughout history that are not under our Constitution. Are you convinced that our way is the only light the world has seen and must be preserved unchanging?

Nope. I'm not socialist. And I don't have a particular change in mind. I'm just always curious about the mindset of set minds.

To become an immigrant in another country yourself?
You do know that many of those socialist European countries have been relying on huge numbers of immigrants to sustain their workforces, right? And many of those countries are having lots of problems integrating those immigrants into their previously successfully homogeneous cultures and systems?

I would gladly become an ex-pat to get out of America! I am no patriot sheeple!

And no,those countries ARE NOT and Do NOT rely on a sizeable immigrant population for their workforce,in fact they allow very limited immigration! :[

Funny, how many different sources[Forbes,CNN,Business Insider, Huffington Post,BBC,ECT.ECT!] claim those countries are the happiest in the world,if they are having "lots of problems" as you claim!

So what besides fear is stopping you? Extended family is a handy excuse but it's only that. We moved thousands of miles away from most of ours with no ill affects to us or our familial relations. Staying where you loathe and then demonizing it at every turn is not attractive in the least. This is still a free country and you have the choice to leave it.

I already said why! Other more favorable countries such as New Zealand do not have an 'open door' immigration policy! Neither do none of those happiest rated countries!
