If you like cities, more cultural aspects, more nature and such, California beats Texas by a lot.
Huh? Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are all WAY better cities than the sh*thole known as LA, its not even close. Unless you are into D-bags, sitting up in da club with your homies or trying to catch a glimpse of Lindsay Lohan at Katsuya, really no reason to choose LA over Dallas or Houston. Now when you are talking about a world class city like San Diego with perfect weather, great people, awesome beaches and a variety of things to do, then the Texas cities will take a back seat. When you are talking OC cities vs Dallas and Houston, its basically the same thing minus the beach. Its mostly urban sprawl with plenty of strip malls and chain stores everywhere.

Los Angeles is more cultured, world class, and cosmopolitan than all the bland Texas cities put together. Even the Inland Empire feels more lively, nevermind LA/OC. You want sh*tholes? Check the crime rates of Dallas and Houston and get back to me.

Sorry but LA is a dump. Try going anywhere without being accosted by bums begging for money or gang bangers looking to rob you unless you are above Sunset or in BH. I would feel perfectly safe walking around both Dallas and Houston downtown at 2am. I wouldn't be downtown LA after 9pm without a gun on me.

Houston and Dallas have significantly higher crime rates than Los Angeles, it's not even close. You can feel safer in those cities all you want, statistically you're not safer. At all. Understand?

Not one ounce of truth to this if you are clumping Houston into the bland mix. The is nothing bland about Houston and btw it is a world class city and has been for a long time.

LOL, you actually believe that? You are aware different cities and states report crimes differently right? Dallas and Houston Police Departments report its crimes differently than other cities. In other cities, if a murderer shot 5 people in LA for example, it would be reported as one crime. In Dallas or Houston, if a murderer shot 5 people, it would be reported as 5 crimes. Do some research please

To me I like Los Angeles. Never had much of a problem except in San Monica. But I don't hate LA for those incidences that I encountered. Actually I found people in LA and for that matter SoCal polite. I would love to move back once I have the opportunity.

Show us some of that research, please. Don't tell other posters to do your work for you.

Just more of the California Cheer Leaders Double Talk.

Lets look at the major ones. Lets just look at two cities. Los Angeles California vs. Dallas Texas.

Murder---Almost twice as many in Los Angeles

Rapes---Just under 500 per 100 thousand people in Dallas, vs. almost 1,000 in Los Angeles

Robberies---Just under 4,000 Dallas, vs. Just under 9,000 Los Angeles

Assaults----Under 4,000 Dallas Vs. Over 8,000 in Los Angeles

Burglaries----Very close to the same both cities.

Thefts----Dallas just over 31,000 vs. over 56,000 in Los Angeles

Arson----Well over twice as many in Los Angeles

Auto Thefts----Twice as many in Los Angeles

Which city would you say, has the real Higher Crime Rate. Figures courtesy of City Data.
