Default "Agrestic, CA"

As a "Weeds" lover, I was wondering which town in CA best suits the fictional LA suburb of "Agrestic."

Does it accurately depict life in affluent, CA?

Yes it does.

And "Journeyman" accurately depicts the average family in San Francisco.

I had to stop watching that show. I couldn't watch Nancy take orders from and be humiliated by drug dealers. Everything they told her to do ... she did without question. It's like she doesn't exist as a person ... just a pawn for the drug lords.

And the show was just getting stupid in general ... I can't stand the brother in law either.

I seriously doubt that the affluent actually take orders from drug dealers but ... you never know in California.

Aww Sheri, I hung out with Justin Kirk (he plays that character) for about a month while shooting ... he's a cool dude!

i wonder what they smoke in that show, when they are simulating the smoking of trees.

I know they film a lot of the show up in Santa Clarita (north of LA). I wouldn't consider Santa Clarita affluent, though. I think it's representative of a lot of Orange County neighborhoods. I'm not as familiar with the San Fernando Valley, so I don't know how representative it is of that area.

It personally reminds me of Calabasas. I love that show!

Having lived in "THE VALLEY" for 50 years, I'd say Agrestic most closely resembles "Agoura" or "Calabasas" in structure - "Costa Mesa" in upper-middle class aspects, and a little "Pasadena" or parts of "San Marino" thrown in. Nancy's was not working when her husband died, and she's got balls, which are now utlitized in her line of work - in which she also realizes how much power she can weild with her looks and spirit. So, yes, she does have to sit at the feet of the drug lords in this case, just like anyone else. Except she has something she can always rely on to get her out of trouble, that most folks can't! :-)

I always assumed Valencia and up there, but Calabasas is probably a better match. Ren Mar seems obviously a play on Del Mar by San Diego. I love, love, love Celia Hodes, she's just so.....

Stevenson Ranch for sure!!! I mean it really depicts any upper middle class Southern California suburb though. From Carmel Mountain in the south, to Thousand Oaks to the north, San Clemente to the west and the planned communities of Riverside County to the east. This is Agrestic, CA.
