It's cloudy here too in Los Angeles. Stood outside for like 10 minutes and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Yes, they said to look far north, i.e. more north than the north star.

Looking north, south, east, west: zero. Well, it was worth a try...

Don't give up yet!!

I saw several faint ones and one really nice one with a bright tail. I had to look more northwest and west. If you find the big dipper, you're looking pretty much the right direction from what I saw.

Has anyone else seen some?

I was in the backyard until about midnight here in San Jose, didn't see anything. Partly cloudy sky and too much ambient light.

Went way up in the hills above Malibu. Very dark, saw lots of the constellations normally obscured by light, which was nice. The Big Dipper was in view. Saw nothing else. The quiet and stars made it worth it, though.

That's too back jbun and sparrow. Maybe others will post some exciting observations. I saw some more after I posted last night but none as bright as the one I saw just after midnight. However, I didn't stay out too long.

Thats because most meteor showers don't get active until after midnight. Best times are usually 2am-4am

It was disappointing everywhere:

Camelopardalids meteor shower a bust, but not a surprise

It would have basically been a bust for me too if I hadn't seen the one really bright one with a long tail, like the one shown in the picture at the link you provided.
