BTW, this city, along with more than a few businesses here (OC & LA), have already adopted a few ideas (I won't say which and I am not boasting; just discussing cross-pollination) submitted to them by this NYC transplant.

the closest you will find to new York on the west coast will be in the Bay Area. this is only with certain food like Pizza. I am told that the some of the pizza in Berkeley is very similar to New York style but I don't know.

When my grandma asked how I liked the food, instead of telling her I've had better in California, I told her the food was good, and she was happy. I never complained about failing to get a really good burger in New York, either. I just enjoyed what was given to me.

That's unfortunate that you've experienced transplants talking smack like they've been there forever.

I would get on your last nerve because I sometimes do this on purpose LOL. In San Diego, I complain that the Chinese Food and Seafood isn't as good as the Bay Area. In the Bay Area, I tell people that the Mexican Food in San Diego is way better LOL

Sticky state, huh? That 'splains it. My wife and I are both California natives who settled elsewhere in retirement. Guess the only rational explanation is that we must have come unglued!
