I just restored a car with the blue background and 6 character license plate. I managed to keep it since I bought it in the 70s.

I remember my parents having the black background with gold characers, first vehicle I got to drive.

I also remember riding in a late-50s Chevy my parents owned with a gold background and black letter/numbers license plate, so does that make me a pre-Son of the Golden West .

San Francisco circa 1980's and early 90's

The old Stonestown Mall (pre-enclosure)
The old little museum of carnival machines that use to be in the Cliff House
Hamburger Mary's
The Cafe Flore in the Castro run by those flirting Iranian guys
"X" playing at all the little clubs along South of Market
When the Lower Haight was the "new" neighborhood to move into (circa 1985)
Armpit Gallery
WeBeSushi

Riding out the 7.0 earthquake of '89 at the top floor of a rickety Inner Sunset victorian--whoo-hoo!

Sounds like my era! As for the earthquake.. Better on TOP floor than UNDER Hensill Hall (held up by pillars) at SFSU during the earthquake! Didn't know I could run so fast for no obvious reason!

Anyone remember "Condomania" on Castro? This was during the AIDS crisis and condom anything was very fashionable.

"Body Manipulations" in the Haight was all the rage (and the ONLY place to get a piercing at the time)

..and "Roommate Referral" was one of the only ways to find a roommate.

I also remember when The Burning Man festival was just a little "get together" on the beach.

I also loved Pete Wilson/Ana Chavez for the news and Jan Yanehiro/Steve Fox for "Evening Magazine".

I also remember flying down the Gough St hill to get onto the freeway and when "Hayes Valley" was the ghetto.

I was never big into football but I have very fond memories of Joe Montana (Jerry Rice, Dion Sanders) in their heyday. The 49ers were the pride of the entire Bay Area. Anyone remember that song.."San Francisco..49rs in the Superbowl". Or "Planet Rock" when they changed the lyrics to the various cities in the Bay Area?

Anyone remember Alex Bennett? LOVED him. Steve Masters/ "Big" Rick Stewart?

Ahh, memories!

No offense, but Neon Deion spent only one year with the 49ers. He quickly scooted to Dallas and should be excluded from this pleasant thread.
