I am looking for a new place to live. I have arthritis that is aggravated by the cold, and SADs during the gloomy months. I am a young, single, female, traveling on my own.

Things I am looking for are (numbered in order of importance)

1. Progressive/ tolerant/ down to earth, warmer than Seattle, affordable, walkable, safe

2. LGBTQIA and youth friendly, and a Massage school in waking/ busing distance. I have a $1200 budget for a studio or 1 bedroom

3. (Bonus category) some nature, populated, stuff to do, and urban. I love music, and communities. I also enjoy art and alternative scenes. This of course would be at the bottom of my list of needs.

Yes I posted something earlier. It was too disorganized and long. People got confused. This is my second attempt, to clarify. Give it your best. Thanks. I am trying to move away from Seattle, WA. I am very open to suggestions anywhere.

Will you be looking for a job? If so, the job market may matter, depending on the profession and how skilled you are at it.

I would start my search by first looking for where there are massage schools and work from there. Honestly, I do not know where they are, but I am guessing there are many in Southern California or the Bay Area.

As for number two, you may want to stick to the Bay area, LA or possibly San Diego.

The issue will be your budget.

Hillcrest or North Park neighborhoods in San Diego. Look no further. Has everything you need. I'd offer up Asheville, NC as an alternative option but it might get too chilly for you in the winter.

You have posted this in the California, Washington, Oregon and Colleges forums. Why don't you try the General US forum, since you haven't narrowed down your choices much.

Why does it matter? I did. I'm not sure people even use that forum much. 0 comments. I am mainly focused on California, but I want to keep my options open.

Echo Park in Los Angeles.

Basically checks every box except for the massage school part... that's really for you to find out and determine.

Safe?! The school part doesn't feel like an issue for me. I am very flexible, in that area.
