YES, I know about Newman. You never hear anybody asking about Newman, CA. Newman is a small town South of the bay area. People who live in this area consider Newman to be wayyyyy out there. Newman has pretty much been a truck stop on Highway 5 for the longest time and now they are starting to put up homes out there. The homes are more affordable than areas closer to the bigger cities like Oakland, San Francisco etc. but you are really far from everything. Patterson is a town that is a little closer than Newman and that town has nothing.

One of our friends bought a house out in Newman and commutes from Newman to Livermore every morning for work. That is about a 60 mile drive and a pretty boring drive because it is down highway 5, long with nothing to see. He likes it though, but he does not like living near strip malls and things like that.

I guess the closest bigger city to Newman would be Modesto, CA. Modesto has everything that you would need and a lot of people work in modesto. The area does not have as many great jobs as you would find closer to San Francisco, but you can find work. I imagine that someday Newman will be more populated and have more homes, shopping etc.

If you have any other questions post them and I will try to answer. We have a lot of friends out in Patterson which is 10-15 miles from Newman and I can get info from them as well.
