Not according to the checks I wrote to Cal State Fullerton in the 90's or the checks my wife writes to Coastline Community College now. Tuition is greatly discounted for residents, but its not free.

to someone like me it might as well be free...new york colleges even state ones are absolutely outrageusly expensive. You basically can't attend college and get your bachelors without becoming i'd estimate $20,000 at least someone in my financial situation.

I went to grad school with a guy who got his BS in engineering from some college in Manhattan I think. He said it was completely free. I forgot the name.

sounds like Cooper Union. It's a hard school to get into because tuition is free for all the students there.

As K-Luv pointed out, tuition is free but there are still fees to pay. So in essence it still feels like you are paying tuition. When I went to UCR for grad school the fees came out to something like $5000 per year but tuition was $0.

i paid $3000 for a year in tuition alone at community college, but it seems unreasonable to move from a place where the cost of living is too high to a place where its higher. So I'm considering austin texas now. Some of the lowest tuition, in the nation, lower cost of living then new york, and a great business program at the university of texas. Any thoughts?

[quote=UB50;2314143] Doesn't every state have a low cost community college system?

Simply put, NO.
