Arrow The business of Landscaping in California

here in new york it is very similiar no matter where you go. i have a F-350 dump truck with a utility trailer and we go around and service roughly 30 homes per day. this is generally done wed-sat leaving other days for other things like trimming, planting, etc...... our service includes mowing, weed-wacking and blowing off the driveway/walkways, etc. occassionally flower beds are cultivated for a small fee extra. the average house is $30 based on 1/4 to 1/2 acre in a typical suburban neighborhood. i service about 80 residential homes per week and 3 large condominium complexes under contract. i service the condos for snow removal (roadways and driveways) as well. spring and fall are for "clean ups" where in the fall, huge amounts of leaves are removed from the property and maybe 3 to 5 homes are done per day with a crew of 3-4 men.

i lived in san diego years back and dont remember seeing the "big landscaping rigs". i recall seeing small little pick up trucks with a push mower bungee'd to the tailgate. is this how it is in your neck of the woods? im looking to relocate to norcal in the future and would love to continue my landscaping "career" out there. i consider myself a professional and make a successful living doing my work. i would like to continue out in cali.... how is it done in your neck of the woods. thanks!!! i love this site!
steve

There are a lot of gardeners in Ca. $30.00 would be cheap, most people here pay at least $60.00 and it's not a 1/2 acre lot. You would have plenty to compete with for buisness but with good quality work at a reasonable price you wouldn't have a problem, most of them around here do not do a quality job.

Impalacat is on a distinguished road
Well I'm not a landscaper, but here in the Clovis-Fresno area there seems to be hundreds of em, but everything looks very nice and kept up, they must do well around here from what I see, they will use a pickup pulling a trailer big enough for their equiptment and to put the trimmings in, some are nicer than others, I have seen like a 1-ton crew cab dump truck, big enough for his workers to ride in comfort, with a trailer and looked very proffesional.
