The only Antelope I know is near Sacramento.

Lebec and/or Gorman, as is Frazier Park are too small.

Tehachapi is just under 2 hours from LA. OP stated that she wanted to be at least one hour from LA.

Antelope Valley/Lancaster area is what I think was meant by "Antelope". That would fit if desert-type terrain is OK.

@Katnip kid: Yeah I get how that sounds weird, but I thought if the town was to small it might not have one. I plan on having my parents buried where I can visit them.

Neenach or Acton were the small Antelope Valley towns I was thinking of. I think there may be more.

Frazier Park is a nice community, but I'm pretty sure the kids need to be bussed down the hill to Bakersfield for high school. Acton has their own high school, Neenach does not.

Other than being ten miles to the next nearest city, Fillmore is worth consideration. But personally, I'd live in Tehachapi myself. Only reason for not is that it is too far from my job in Pasadena, (there is one fellow in our vanpool who does live there, and I don't know how he emotionally handles the commute).

OK, but just wait till they're dead. Probably not you, but some people like to rush things.

Your choices are going to be limited unless you want to be about 2 or 3 hours outside of the city. All those wonderful small towns, many of us knew as kids are now just part of the greater Los Angeles metro area. I would suggest, like others have, you start researching towns off the grapevine heading toward Bakersfield. Some one said Barstow, but it is a long way from L.A.

Further away but nice Lake Isabella and Kernville. I always liked Lebec on the Ridge Route, but I don't know if they have a high school.
