My neighbor was going to risk extended unemployment over making that compromise, so he acted quickly and ended up with a better position locally. Wheat from chaff.

AKA known as the "I'm not moving to Texas, unless you pay me a boatload of money" gambit or "seriously?"

Texas.....except for Austin, a serious waste of a giant piece of real estate!

Har har...they call retaining 50% of their workforce even after massive bribes a win. Nope, Texas ain't CA, kids! Funny how the Nissan to Tennessee move is providing an unsettling example.

There is a big difference on a number of levels between Southern California and Texas. On the professional level, I would be surprised if they even reach 30% for the number of folks that will move. Especially in a relatively booming California economy.

Toyota innovation in Texas? Toyota loyalty to it's employees? It's taking a big hit in this move. But, Texas resembles middle america far more so than California does. It's perceived as a good move for the company and the company will always do what's in it's best interest, not it's employees. That's corporate America; the system we keep supporting each election.

Good luck with your new home.

Too bad if the Toyota employees are gay:

Even though it was Texas’s sodomy law that the Supreme Court struck down over 10 years ago, that law is still part of the state’s sex education policy:

(2) state that homosexual conduct is not an acceptable lifestyle and is a criminal offense under Section 21.06, Penal Code.
