Since politics ultimately affects everything one is allowed or not allowed to do, it is certainly not irrelevant. Shouldn't have to be whisked away in the middle of the night and disappear, as occurs all around the world, to realize this.

Or, for an example in our own fair country, examine the federal report released today re: Ferguson Police Dept.'s treatment of it's own black citizens (yes, this is political, as elected officials maintained this policy).

...And Folsom Prison, I think is the oldest state prison in the State and it is huge employer of middle class jobs along with Intel (high paying jobs) and a few other larger employers, Folsom is more than suburban; its got good paying jobs.

Folsom housing costs are much lower than San Jose/Silicon Valley too.
Actually, Folsom is the second oldest prison in California. The oldest is San Quentin. But you're right, the town of Folsom is actually beautiful, and reminds you more of an upscale Bay Area or Orange County town, as opposed to a San Joaquin Valley area.

Folsom is in Sacramento County, which is in the Sacramento Valley.

Over-rated:
San Francisco-Quality of living was 10X better in comparison to Seattle and so was food surprisingly. Wish I had not jumped on the career opportunity that brought me here. Overpriced and cold year round; very few days to enjoy short sleeves.

Under-rated:
High Desert and Sierras-Unpertentious, gorgeous sunrises and starry nights, manageable cost of living.

Pacoima is part of the City of Los Angeles, albeit in the eastern San Fernando Valley.

That being said, the little I saw of it seemed like "varrio and vaquero coexisting". Some fairly large parcels of land with rustic homes on them and Mexican markets around.

I think people just like to use the name "Pacoima" as a punch line because it sounds funny.

If anyone remembers "Ken and Bob" on KABC 790 in the '70s and early '80s, they did a little bit with a fake radio personality who owned the "Pacoima Moat and Drawbridge Company--Providing Yesterday's Solutions to Tomorrow's Problems" -- more humorous than derogatory, in my opinion. Plus Ken Minyard was a Valley person (lived in Van Nuys).

Anyway, back on topic.

Overrated - SF/Bay Area, LA

Underrated - San Diego, Santa Barbara, Monterrey/Carmel

Well deserved terrible reputation - Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacramento

In my opinion the central valley of CA is the worst place to live in entire country.

SACRAMENTO is gaining as having one the better reputations not only in California, but Nationally.

For example, Educational Attainment in Sacramento is ranked 26th, higher than Pittsburg, Denver and Chicago. Higher than Santa Barbara - 43rd, and Los Angeles - 71st.

Sacramento Metro has a real college town Davis, which has more people with a Bachelor's Degree than Berkeley.

The Best Veterinary College in the nation is UC Davis, better than the next best, an Ivy League College, Cornell University.
