All over CA. See: Skid Row, Los Angeles; Santa Ana River, Orange County; Petco Park area, San Diego.

Have you looked at the weather records for Redding? 100+ degrees for months. Not much humidity, I'll grant you that.

Snow, unfortunately it is true now regarding the many homeless camps here in Redding. Not only on the banks of the Sacramento River but also along the open areas off of Hilltop Drive, Lake Blvd, etc.

The RPD has been focusing efforts on reducing crime, particularly in the downtown area, due to complaints of businesses tired of finding human feces at their front doors as well as broken windows, thefts, etc., which is forcing many of the homeless further out in the city as well as local hotels which have had numerous cars being broken into. Two large hotels downtown have been shut down due to the amount of crime going on within.

Shasta Support Services is regularly cleaning out homeless camps, many times the same areas over and over. Recently a cleanup in one small area involving several tons of trash resulted in removing more than enough needles to fill 5 gallon buckets.

Redding is certainly much worse than a few years ago. Anyone who wants to know more about the crime in Redding only needs to go the Redding Crime 2.0 And Shasta Support Services Facebook pages. It truly is a shame that this beautiful city is becoming so less so.

There is a site nation wide that gives a Crime Rate # for a City, the higher the number the safer it is:
Put in Crime Rate Redding California, when all the sites come up hit the one that has SCOUT in the Title. Scores are 1 through 100 being the safest. I Think Redding is 5 or 6! What does that tell you? I have lived all over California and even was in Redding and when you bring up Redding 9 out of 10 people will say right away "Gosh I don't like that place or what a Hell Hole".

Sounds like most places anywhere near the Bay Area...

Neighborhood Scout is a terrible source for “crime rate”. Even super safe, low crime areas get low scores.

For example, Walnut Creek gets a 10. Please, do yourself a favor and get real

OK, then let’s see what City-Data says. Higher number is worse:

Redding 449.6

Walnut Creek 176.7

U.S. average 280

You kind of proved my point. Neighborhood Scout has WC as 10, Citydata has it well below the US average for crime.

Neighborhood Scout = Unreliable

I never said Redding is a safe, crime free place. I simply said don’t rely on Neighborhood Scout as someone suggested

Redding is also bound to have a wider economic swath than Walnut Creek.
