I can't find the link but I read somewhere there was a plan to build a Las Vegas in California out in the desert on the I5 near Santa Bella.

You mean Santa Nella? It's not in the desert but I think that's the place you mean. Never heard of any plans for it.

Did a Google Search on this subject. Nothing came up. I'm not trying to sound mean, since we can only see text on a screen - but the reason you couldn't find a link is probably because it doesn't exist. This story is fraudulent. Not to mention, California is not Nevada. Gambling is not legal here (except on Indian Reservations), and to just suddenly build up an entire metropolis like Las Vegas in a tiny, obscure agricultural town in Central California would be silly. Which, by the way, is not in the desert. And the town is called Santa Nella, not Santa Bella.

This sounds like a screwy internet rumor, akin to those "post this message on 10 different user's pages in 24 hours or you will die" posts on Facebook and YouTube comments.

The Palm Springs area is the best shot. There are already several casinos along the I-10 from Cabazon to Indio. Lots of Indian land to build on out there, thats the closest thing we have to Vegas in CA.

It would make sense to have a gambling zone somewhere along the Central Valley where there is access to the high speed rail. Stockton would be good because it has the infrastructure but a failing economy that needs help but the name isn't catchy. Modesto or Delano would work as well.

On the flip side if you make a zone like this then you reduce the likelihood of just having gambling legal in the whole state which is how it should be. We shouldn't be restricting freedom like that.

They arent vegas styled though unless they are on Indian land like the ones in the Palm Springs area. Vegas is more than just casinos though...

I was thinking the same thing. The area along Cabazon is hot. So I could see a Vegas like city in Palm Springs. I wouldn't want it though. Except for the Strip, Vegas is a cesspool.
