McCloud's cool, I think they have a road going directly up the mountain (though I've never been on it), and they have close access to the Pacific Crest Trail, and to fly-fishing on the McCloud river a few miles out of town.

How do you feel about it now?

In addition to my experiences, a nurse told me that once when she was new in town and taken a sick day off from work, someone phoned the doctor and said that she wasn't really sick, she was vacuuming her house.

The weird thing is that she had all her windows closed and the curtains drawn shut, and the vacuum was new and not at all loud.

I love living here in Dunsmuir. I do work all over the county, from Tulelake to Somes Bar, from Hilt to Dunsmuir and the one thing I'm really happy about is that I didn't move to Mt. Shasta. Talking with folks from around the county, most of them hold the City of Mt. Shasta in the same regard.

glad to read this post as being I may be moving to the area and I do not fit in most big city areas of this state because I am not politically correct to the ruling class you make it sound like I would fit right in and that’s a good thing as I would hate to be out wetting a line and have to be looking over my shoulder because I have a NRA sticker on my window LOL. thanks that’s one reason I like C.D. as you get the good and the bad about areas when people are honest about were they live to others .I have tried to do the same for the places I have lived and now live in as what fits me may not fit you what I like and want you may not so being honest helps sort it all out.

Yeah, you wouldn't fit into Mt Shasta City, huntman, but Weed, Dunsmuir, and McCloud are conservative. The Dunsmuir and McCloud have the best fishing, but the area around Weed has the best deer hunting - especially since the terrain is spread out, not as steep as Dunsmuir, which is in a sort of big canyon.

The old guard in Dunsmuir is conservative, but the new breed is of the in-your-face socialist mindset, mostly having moved from the San Francisco area. I just mostly keep my opinions to myself, unless their policies inspire me to speak out at council meetings.

There is a nice Best Western in Mt. Shasta City, I think it is called the Tree House.
And, when in town, eat some pizza at "Say Cheese". It is one of the best pizza places in the area.
Yummmy!

Had a wonderful family vacation last june, stayed at the Mount Shasta Resort, fabulous. Wonderful cabin right on the water, breath taking beach near by,picnic in the parks with scenes to cause drooling, bike rides, boat rentals, loved the "city" of Mount Shasta. Took day trips around to Dunsmuir etc. Loved the whole trip.
