Default Do people actually live in Burbank?

One more socal question. Is moving to Burbank an option? Are there actual neighborhoods, grocery stores, etc or is this just a get in/get out to work kind of place. I was warned away from it but my job opportunity gives me a free apartment there.

Yes. Expensive houses near the equestrian zoning, maybe that's what they were warning you about! Otherwise, Burbank is a large area going along the 134 freeway and a bit further NE along the 5, so there's lots of variety of housing, condos and apartments. EVERY neighborhood in L.A. has grocery stores, restaurants, etc. (except the richest mountaintops) because every neighborhood in L.A. is contiguous. I'm not trusting your sources here, Burbank is pretty good living.

Yes. I've got many friends who live in Burbank who've lived there for a lot of years. I also lived there for many years. The popular areas are north of Glenoaks (especially near the Mall) and "down in the flat part" as long as you aren't in the area between VanOwen and the I-5 freeway near the airport (which is kind of an industrial area anyway). Loads of people who work for the studios or are in the entertainment industry live in Burbank, and they live all over the city. There is no one specific neighborhood. You could easily find yourself having "famous neighbors."

One nice thing about Burbank is that it has it's own police force so you aren't being protected by the LAPD.

And yes, there are lots of grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Many of the restaurants aren't chain restaurants so you have to try them out to see if you like them -- but a lot of them have been around for a long time and serve good food.

It's become a popular suburban-urban hybrid for many mid-level professionals in the Los Angeles area. A little warm and occasionally smoggy for my tastes, but it's fairly close to downtown LA and quite close to the entertainment industry. Schools are OK, although many families go the private route there.
