Best fishing?
Where's the best fishing in CA? I used to enjoy fishing in the central part of the state; is there anything really good up north?

I've been on vacation up north a few times and it gets better the farther north you go, all kinds of rivers and lakes.

Don't forget about the ocean! I just thought I'd mention it, in case you hadn't considered it.
I also like the Eastern Sierra for trout fishing. That is probably my favorite area to fish in California, or at least my favorite area that's accessible by car. The best trout fishing in California is probably in the High Sierra, but you have to hike in to get there.
If it's Bass you're after, Castaic, Pyramid, and Piru lakes are all popular spots to fish. If you want Striped Bass, Pyramid and Quail lakes are good, as well as the California Aqueduct.
Buena Vista Recreation area near Bakersfield has Sturgeon in one of the lakes. This is the only area in California that I know of that has them.
I'm not sure about where you should go if you want Salmon, but I understand they are in some of the rivers in Northern California. I'm sure there are others here who can tell you which rivers they're in.
