I dont know but if there is, let me know too!
Actually I just got back from Calif today and was surprised how in some areas, there are billboards advertising new homes that start at 179k??? Is that for real or are those boards just 'old'? Heck, thats cheaper than some of the new homes out here at this point!

Almost any of the towns in Humboldt county are slow paced. Eureka is the largest at 28,000 people, Arcata is next at 17,000, McKinleyville is at 15,000 or greater, Fortuna is at 7,000 plus and next in line is Ferndale and from there they get steadily smaller. All in all there are around 130,000 in the whole county. Life is slow here and has always been that way.

Hello there, from Lindsay, CA. I am a almost 8 year transplant from Topeka, KS, and I love it here in Lindsay. The weather is great, most of the year, and no one hurts you.

I am disabled and use an elect. wheelchair, and i can go out, at nights-weather permitting-and no one bothers me, at all. People are soo friendly here, and helpful, if you need the help.

I live close to 65 highway, and that is all the noise I hear. Even when I lived close to downtown, neighbors watched out for each other, something I wasn't used to, when I moved here in 201.'

I visited my fiance out here, in 2000,' ie. john's love 2000, and I felt at home, and loved. Maybe it was the July heat, back then, but I felt at home here.

Slower paced, well, Lindsay is for you!!! People are great here, but there are a few, very few "butt heads" here, mainly coming from larger towns.

Lindsay is the city of murals, as is Exeter, CA, too. Both are great towns. Check us out, won't you???

Elaine from Lindsay, CA

Hello-it's Me, Again!! I Think That Some Nice Small Cities Are Exeter, And North Tulare County. Going Twords Sequoia Nat. Park, Lemon Cove, And Three Rivers Are Nice Little Towns O Visit And Live In.

Springville Is Also A Nice Place, Too. Higher In Elevation, On Your Way To Porterville, Or To Balch Park, Or Yokul Valley, Too.

California Is A Great Place To Live, Esp. If You're From Out Of State.

That's why they call it the SLO life. Sunshinegal, I'd recommend the San Luis Obispo County area. It has everything you are asking for. But if you want 5 acres here, you'd better be bringing some serious dough with you. 5 acres with a house will cost you through the nose.

Way up north in Humboldt County, there are some lazy towns like Arcata, Trinidad and McKinleyville. They're getting more expensive and there aren't many jobs up there. There is also a big drug culture in the area (pot and meth). But the redwoods are beautiful and reach to the ocean.
ONe of the most uptight towns i've been in was arcata.
It's edgy [and the MJ industry up there has a dark seedy side-it's truly a big money industry, with SUV's driving around and money, etc. from that, alongside the very poor who live there and the hippie folks. It's not laid back anymore! And the industry is not run by the same folks smoking the MJ and being all mellow.]
