Sick of 100 degree weather so looking for a city that is cool (no higher than 70s) and cheap to rent (under $1000) for Summer only.

So where are they?

Crescent City, CA

Pretty much anywhere on the OR coast, too, if you want to go farther north.

Not sure about short term housing being that cheap, though. Camper van? It would be cool enough to be comfortable in a camper up here.

No place in CA, but you could try Forks, WA, Aberdeen, WA, cheap & mild summers.

Cool: Berkeley, El Cerrito, Santa Cruz. Cheap: none of the above. For summer only, you can get a room in a shared household in Berkeley. That's it. Other than that, you'll have to look on the north coast, as others have said.

Sorry, this is incorrect. The all-time record high for Crescent City is 93 degrees. I believe the same is true for Arcata and Eureka.

Happily, I can still live in CA and have cool temps in summer, and no snow in winter here :-)
