Nonsense. I've heard native-born (So)Californians say it going back to the 70's. And it's increasing now for the same reason as alot of other abbreviations used in emails and texting.... "Cali" is simply shorter and more convenient. Everybody still knows what you mean, so what's the big deal? Oh, and sometimes I say "Frisco" too.... sue me!

It's unbelievable to me how many people get bent out of shape by something so stupid as saying "Cali". Why would you let something that boring bother you? The term Cali is here to stay. Obviously.

People in "Philly" must be much more laid back I guess.

People in Pennsylvania call it PA. People in New Jersey call it Jersey. Whats wrong with people calling california "cali"?

WE lived there for 40 years and never called it Cali, in fact I never herard it called that until recently. Frisco, yes, but Ca Cali, no!!!

Dunno, but for the sort of folks who insist we all gotta talk (and be) exactly the same way, then maybe "Cali" isn't the right place for them to begin with...
