I'm new here this past month. What is this obsession with racial topics and immigration? Is it the Forum designated recreational pastime?

So, in your mind, because San Francisco gained the most whites, it's the "best," while El Centro, which lost the most whites, it's the "worst"?

Sure they're fleeing? Some could be due to death, suicide, murder, etc.

California needs to do more to retain it's white population. I find it fascinating that the most growth has been in urban or liberal areas as opposed to traditional white flight zones. A lot of whites from the Bay Area and LA fled to the Inland Empire and Central Valley in the 90s but trend seems to of ended with exception of Sacramento.

I have a pet peeve about the racial definitions used in these types of things. How did Hispanics get classified as White-Hispanic. What about White-Asian? It's like using the term High Yellow or something. There are very white hispanics, and very dark hispanics. How does one classify oneself? And why do I have to say I'm White - Non-Hispanic. What about White-Non-African. Wait, then it would have to say White- Non-Black-African, or African National Citizen, Non-Black, or Non-White.

I'm waiting for the day I see a box that says Irish/French Tans Easily.

Most Hispanic Immigrants to California are primarily Amerindian. White Hispanics are not immigrating in significant numbers with the exception of some of Cubans in Miami.

One of the key things that can be done to retain whites is ending school busing which has driven out the white middle class out of urban areas.

"estimates"

No one knows for sure what the real totals are for any group. I had to lol as Chico losing whites (or people in general). Butte County is gaining them if anything (just from anecdotal observation living here). We get lots of people moving in from the Bay Area and SoCal.
