it is true. CA is definitely not business friendly. If anything, it proves CA's strength and resilience despite the unfavourable policies.

Comparing CA to Greece is stupid, there are similarities in certain aspects but in general they can't be more different.

Agreed. I posted something to this effect about 3 years ago. California has plenty of problems, but there is simply not a more innovative state, and few more creative places in the world.

I credit a fair share of this to Jerry Brown. He actually balanced the budget, something the Tea Party idiots talk about but don't know how to do. He governs in a center left approach that gives me confidence that it is the right approach (very similar to Germany, Denmark,etc.). He ticked off conservatives (he raised taxes!!! ) AND liberals (he cut spending!!!), which is how it has to be done.

The outcome of Tea Party libertarian fantasies can be witnessed in Kansas right now.

Yup,those are one of the threads that were freaking out a lot of people....It's now 2015 and The American Dream is alive and well here indeed

California is such an amazing place....This state started out from nothing to become the largest economy in the country and one of the largest in the world and also one of the most innovative places in the world as well.

"The American dream will be gone" !!!

My American dream is doing just fine, as I cradle a glass of California wine...

If California was that unfriendly to business then California could not have a $2.34 Trillion economy. It's as simple as that.

California has more new business startups that any other state by far. "California saw $6 billion more of venture capital funding than all 49 other states combined plus Washington D.C. in 2014. In total, California-based companies raised $26.84 billion... while non-California states plus D.C. saw aggregate funding of $20.46 billion..." source: CB Insights venture capital

Why does California attract so much business, including incredibly wealthy companies in the Silicon Valley? A lot of it has to do with decisions made decades ago to invest in a world class university system, a massive water system, ports and highways. These decisions to invest heavily in California were largely done by Democrats years ago, especially by Gov. Pat Brown.
