We have a new [2007] house with 2400 sq ft, property taxes run around $600/year for the house.

We have 150 acres of land with 1/4 mile of river frontage, property taxes on the land are $1.05 per acre, or roughly $157/year.

I would consider these property taxes to be fairly low.
75% mill rate, it's property tax assessed by city/town you live in. So car/house is taxed at a 75% the cost the property is for that year. For example you have a house for $150,000 and tax rate is 72% your paying $10,000 that year in property taxes. However, depends on city/town living in can average $4,000 for some rates and $7,000 for other rates for same property costing $150,000.

Not 100% how it work's, I know second year of a leased car that was $26,000 trying to pay off my second year of $800 taxes for the car. Heard it will be changed next year thankfully capped at 32% I heard.

New England people talk funny and have been dressing the same way since JFK. Maine had a slack jawed yokel vibe.

Okay, mil-rate, got it.

Our town mil-rate is 0.00870 I just got the annual bill last week.

A property assessed at $150,000 would be paying roughly $1,305 here.

Excise taxes for vehicles over 5 years old are 0.0040 a $26,000 car would cost you $104.

Is that in California sounds amazing. Dad told me property is higher out there, but make up for it with salary. Example what a $200,000 house goes for here be another $200,000. However, if making $10 more an hour see no issue with the additional cost.

Some people call CT the northern California. I think I can deal with winter love to move up to Maine or New Hampshire cheaper living.
