It's the Hollywood sign. The entire world knows it. The golden gate bridge is a distance second.

Outside of CA. the half dome wouldn't even make the top 10. Venice Beach is much more 'iconic' than the half dome.

You can't be serious. Last time I visited Yosemite NP, that same day I was probably accompanied by hundreds of international travelers.

Last time I was at Venice Beach it was mostly homeless people and hipsters there.

International travelers spend a fortune to travel to the states. And they spend the limited time they have enjoying the Grand Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone or Yosemite. I strongly doubt that shady pot shops, a dirty beach and street entertainers are at the top of their list or come to mind as iconic.

When first seeing the question, immediately thought of Yosemite (Half Dome)... and then Golden Gate Bridge.

Have never been to CA, but when I do visit, will most want to see the giant redwoods! Where else has those?

Oops...I should have written Sleeping Beauty's Castle, not Cinderella's. Wrong fairytale! And did C even have a castle?

She married into it when she married the prince. Disneyland is Aurora's castle and Disney world is Cinderella's.

Not a problem. That's a very common mistake.

Hollywood sign by a mile,Due to all the media attention it gets & movies featuring it . Golden gate bridge is 2nd of course, But whatever most people think of when it comes to California is the stereotypical palm trees & beaches so it's a different concept with Nor cal & SoCal.

Golden Gate Bridge. It's a pretty big engineering feat, especially for the 1930s and is so beautiful and impressive. Hollywood sign is a little too... LA (kitchy)

I'm very serious. The weightlifters on Venice beach are more 'iconic' than half dome, in the states and in other parts of the world.
