Democrat parties enviroment rules mandate that gas is produced to a strict formula.
Democrat parties required refineries to comply with clean air standards that required expensive investments that caused many refineries to move to less redicolous states.
There are no independent refiners in Calif to supply independent retailers because of the above Democrat requirements.
No interstate pipelines so we can not get gas quickly and cheaply. So when our few refineries have a problem prices surge quickly.
Highest gas taxes in the nation plus Cap & Trade costs added in. This is pure Democrat party crap.
Keep on voting for Democrats

Why does it seem difficult to believe the LA Times had anything to do with the writing or content here?

One could even say "redicolous".

Americans really get to whine about expensive gas price?? Canada pays more, Australia pays more, Japan pays more, even China pays more.

Pure democratic crap? Current low US gas price is only possible because huge subsidy - from a country who claims to be supportive of free market. US gas price is nothing but free market, and nothing but expensive.

Yeah I'd much rather have air quality suck because the oil companies can pollute the air. Might save a few cents per gallon.

I am all for higher gas prices if they can help push us away from oil dependency.

I really don't like giving my money to Big Oil and the Middle East.

Which is very cavalier of you. It's the poor who get significantly hurt with the ever-rising prices.

This is why we need to ween from oil and gas. We somehow have made buying gas a necessity... even the poors have to buy it. The change isn't going to be pain-free, but we need it.

Ah, but you're in California which means the Legislature will "rescue" and hold the poor harmless. That means either the state debt or your taxes will go up, maybe both. Enjoy!
