Relocating: Small, leftist affordable town?
Hey there,
We are currently Denverites, wanting to relocate to a smaller (not tiny!) town in California that has a strong Leftist, Democratic, Liberal, Peacenik, *****, Hippie element but is still affordable. Are there any? Within 1 hour of beach would be nice, and not desert climate -- that's a big part of why we want to move. Two young kids in tow, good (public/charter) schools are a plus.

How about the People's Republic of Bolinas. Don't know how affordable it is. Bolinas 2 Miles (broken link). Might be hard to find since the locals keep taking down direction signs along the highway to keep people out .

What line of work are you in? (Where can you work?)
What is your rent budget or housing price range?

Bolinas is not affordable. Try Humboldt County, Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville. Right on ocean, certainly not a desert!

Leftist and affordable? That's funny. Leftists tend to pass laws that restrict building and heavily regulate (adding costs) to what building they do allow. Less supply + added costs = not affordable. Enjoy!
