Hi Paula. WOW. That's just personal greed. I understand that the price of a barrel of oil actually dropped in the last few days. Just don't go to that station. They'll get the message. I hope. Take care, skitow

Haven't received any petitions either. Haven't seen anyone out there picketing. Does everyone feel as helpless as I do?
I barely drive as it is because I don't want to waste my money on gas. It's not like I can cut back anymore. I don't know how the people that make minimum wage are doing it. CRAZY!
So, the question is does ANYONE know what we can do to lower prices?

I'm just watching a special on CNN on the gas issue.
The feds have been investigating the futures market since December to see if there is manipulation going on as opposed to simply supply and demand. They're just letting this be known now as it is usually kept secret.
I don't really understand the market at all but because there are so many different players in this oil game, the news guy doing the special said it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
These gas prices are hitting everybody hard and that feeling of powerlessness that you speak of is not good. When people feel this helpless and powerless fear increases and anger too. This is a bit scary, needless to say.
As these prices continue to increase it's going to get crazier.
They say house prices in the suburbs will decrease and home prices in the city will increase.
The only good thing i see coming out of this crisis is that people will stop buying the stupid gas guzzling SUV's and trucks.
I see hummers around Santa Cruz and i just can't believe what i see.
How can anyone drive such a vehicle given what's going on in the world?!!

And not only that, but just the way I still get my doors blown off by some big ol' SUV or full-size pickup (or sometimes some dood in a Honda Civic with one of those coffee can tailpipe end pieces) going well over 80 when I'm tootling along at a steady 65 on northbound 101 between Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa.
Next paycheck, I'm buying myself a good pair of walking shoes. I'm just going nuclear over what we're paying for gas these days around here.

There isn't anything we can do. It's something the government has to do. At least we're not paying $8.00 or more per gallon like in Europe. To spend less money on gas, we just have to make attempts to cut down on drive time.

In Orange County, CA the gas prices are $4.19 -$ 4.29 a gallon for regular gas, way out of control.
