Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
We moved to Texas and I find it amazing the differences you can find in one zip code. Although prices in general are lower than CA regular ranges from $3.19 to $3.94 in the same zipcode. When we moved here 6 months ago regular was in the $2.55 to $2.65 range pretty much everywhere. People here are not happy at all with gas prices. It is a major topic around town.

it's outrageous!!!
as i asked in another forum, where is the revolt if these prices are being manipulated by the "powers that be" and when exxon (or whoever) made their biggest profit last year?
how can ordinary working people even afford to get to their jobs especially if the commute is a long one?
and how in the world do people with gas guzzlers fill their tanks each week?
i'm paying aournd $40.00 to fill mine and i've got a subaru that gets relatively good mileage.
and why was (just the other day) a gallon of gas in the middle of nevada less expensive than in santa cruz?
i don't get any of this but it seems truly messed up.

I agree 100% but it is not just the oil companies, it is also oil speculation. There are many articles about this practice. With rising oil prices speculators are moving in more than ever. This has not caused a huge percentage in the rising prices but it has added to them. It really sucks because we all feel so powerless to do anything.

It's also due to the weak dollar. It just takes more of those green pieces of paper that are losing their value to buy a barrel of oil today.

Here is what it is today here in Humboldt county. It might be possible to save 10 cents a gallon at Costco and one of the casinos, but pretty much every gas station has a similar price.

Driving home from LAX tonight, I noticed a sudden jump in gas prices. Regular was around $3.50 just a couple of days ago. Tonight, it was $3.75 at Valero and higher everywhere else. I saw $3.83+ on most stations.

That was a BIG jump in almost no time (since I didn't notice these prices earlier in the day!)
