Default moving to Palo Alto

hello, I just got a new job at a tech company located in Palo Alto and I am seeking some advice from people who live there. Which are good areas to live around Palo Alto considering i am in late 20s, single, and moving from a place which is relatively inexpensive.

From what I read, mountain view or Sunnyvale is a good place to live but my budget is sorta limited between $1000-$1300 per month rental. Is it realistic to expect rental places in these areas?

Do people travel a lot to SF downtown for fun or there are lot of things to do in the Palo Alto area?

Where do young professional people live and what do they do for fun?

thanks again!

Mountain View or Sunnyvale would be good places to look for an apartment. Rents are cheaper there than in Palo Alto. Mountain View has LOTS of apartment buildings and complexes. The whole area has a suburban feel with lots of shopping.

San Francisco is about 45 min - 1 hour away. Caltrain runs between San Jose and San Francisco with stops in the above towns. caltrain.com - General Info: System Map
