California is a large state... How far are you willing to drive? Ten hours? Twelve hours? Or maybe you could give an idea of what area you live in so a nearby restaurant could be recommended?

You are posting in the rental forum. For dining/restaurant questions you will want to post this in one of the applicable California forums here http://www.city-data.com/forum/california/.

Where are you in California? In the Bay area the authentic Indian restaurants are concentrated in the Sunnyvale and Fremont areas. Dublin is also getting more Indian restaurants and Chaat Bhavan has opened a third location in Dublin. See this previous post for details.

In Los Angeles county there is an area on Pioneer Blvd in Norwalk called Little India.

In San Diego there is not nearly as much Indian food but at least there is the Little India Center on Black Mountain Rd.

Sacramento does not have much Indian food but there is a fantastic Punjabi style restaurant called Samosa Garden on Florin Rd. There is also a south Indian place called Mylapore in Folsom.
