Or is it the Media that doesnt want to acknowledge that California is the undisputed job creating leader among all 50 states? They certainly had no problem reporting when California was doing very poorly due to the recession, but now that California is going on 2 solid years of leading the pack--nary a peep. LOL

It's like the median constantly wants us to think that things are going really bad in California, like always.

But no, this is the last 2 years:

New Jobs Created, October 2013-October 2015
California +935,800
Texas +569,900

California Economy at a Glance
Texas Economy at a Glance

We've been killing it Golden State people-both the LA Area and SF Bay Area are on top, along with NY, lead as the 3 biggest job creating metro areas in the country.

So just in case you werent aware, now consider yourself aware.

California's economic outlook and job growth is doing very, very well.

I hear the sound of crickets where once the thunderous voices of the anti-CA folk once sounded. Sorry but the doomers and gloomers are wrong--again!

All hail Texas and Kentucky!

It's only over a 2 year period. We still have an above average unemployment rate. Like the improvement in the state's bond rating to AA- by 2 of the 3 rating agencies (one still has us at A+), it's a notable improvement, but we're still below average.

Have you ever lived in Texas? I did.... 4 years and it was 5 years too long. They have to brag about everything.

California bragging is cliche and old hat. Most out of staters don't care enough to hear another reason why California is "the best". Texans are proud of their state and want everyone to know that they are proud of it. Different strokes for different folks. California isn't for everyone despite its success.

Because Californians have more class than Texans, and California has more class than Texas does.

I made the mistake of moving to Texas 5 or 6 years ago and it almost made me homeless. I couldn't find any jobs in my sector at all. Lived off of my savings. I think the jobs they have are mostly blue collar and when you land something white collar it's paid incredibly low.

Luckily with the last bit of money I did moved myself back to California and landed a job immediately. I love my California and will NOT make that mistake ever again.

Below is a graphic showing the longer-term trend of California's Philadelphia Fed coincident index from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis's FRED data page. Shaded areas indicate recession periods.

The coincident index combines four state-level employment and wage indicators " payroll employment, average hours worked in manufacturing, the unemployment rate, and wage and salary disbursements deflated by the consumer price index (U.S. city average)" to summarize current economic conditions in a single statistic.

3/2015: CA "Coincident Index" Remains In Top Tier of States

The dip between 2008 and 2010 set off a flurry of articles about the doom of California that exist to this day. Some cite old data and some cite old articles that cite old data.

The graph shows in the overall scheme of things, it was a blip. Those that panicked, fled. Those that did not, bought. One of those groups is happier today.

So do a lot of states. It's becoming somewhat of an epidemic.
