I was living in Santa Barbara and recently moved to Camarillo. I thought living closer to Disneyland and living in a more populated area would mean I would make friends faster and life would be more fun. However, it seems I transferred to a worse office and I haven't made friends any faster. I guess I learned the grass isn't always greener of the other side.

I still think it's awesome living closer to Disneyland, but not having anyone around to go with stinks.

I guess I am young and don't know what I value. I left a work office that was like family to a competitive and chaotic office where everyone is new and no one likes each other. I left because I now have better room mates and I had two friends living in Camarillo. However, I only see them three times a week.

The more and more I think about it, I am not sure living closer to Disneyland is worth it.

Okay, so you answered your own question *thread title*.
Perhaps keep this situation in mind the next time you think about moving and transferring to a different office.

Mickey Mouse is a Svengali. Don't give in. Walk away. Head towards the light!

Camarillo isn't anywhere I'd call "close to Disneyland." Isn't it twice the distance to Santa Barbara?

Perhaps you need to move closer to the Magic Kingdom? In fact, since it appears to consume your thoughts so, why not work there?

It really depends on the demographic makeup of your office. People may or may not be able to be friends due to life commitments. Do they know you are a Disneyland fan? You may find that there are some who want to join you.

If you are looking for people to go with, I would make friends on some of the boards that have lots of Disney fans such as Micechat, Mouseplanet, Mousewait, etc. You could also look at a meetup group of people who are interested in getting to know people.

There are a lot of Disneyland fans in Southern California, including Ventura county, you are about an hour and half away. You could definitely make some friends and travel there regularly.

Good luck

It's not necessarily that SoCal is the wrong place for you . . . it's the part of SoCal that you're in relative to what you like to do and where you'd like to do it. Can you transfer to somewhere in the southern part of L.A. County or Orange County? For the record, I lived in Calabasas for 23 years and never considered that a short hop to Disneyland.
