California River Cities
Are there additional river cities & river towns in California besides Sacramento? If so, what are their names? Also, if you have any pics and links of these cities and towns, please post them.

Ocean going ships call at Sacramento, and Stockton. Both over 100 miles from the ocean.
As far as what else is out there, Use Google Earth and follow the rivers.
Don't forget the Colorado

additional towns are Rio Vista, Isleton, the ships come through Rio Vista too. The sloughs off of the river run all through the farm land. There are lots of mobile home parks and recreation areas and homes on the sloughs. Tower Park is one of the recreation parks you may be able to find a site for. I believe they are koa now.
There is also what they call the Delta Loop. A recreation area that loops off of highway 12 and back to it again...along the Delta. This whole are is about 20 minutes from Lodi, CA. About 45 minutes from Sacramento.

Well, Izzy, it looks like you're quite familiar with the Sacramento Delta estuary and confluences; I've been hoping to find someone like you to describe life in the Delta for me, (if you so please). I've rather fancied buying a decent liveaboard cruiser, or perhaps a navigable houseboat, and have found Korth's Pirate's Lair marina at Isleton to be the most fitting place to tie up long term. I haven't found much in the way of descriptions of the ambience of the area, if there are mostly laid-back types that, say, appreciate poetry/art/music et cetera. I would greatly appreciate the point of view of someone who truly knows the area.

The city of Redding, CA in the far northern half of the state is a "river city."

Technically Fresno is also a river city. The San Joaquin River forms the northern boundary of the city.

The new aquarium in Fresno will be built on a bluff overlooking the San Joaquin River at the Highway 99 bridge and will include exhibits about the river along with marine exhibits.
Aquarius Aquarium Institute - A Public Aquarium for California's San Joaquin Valley
Fresno was founded by the railroad which chose to place the center of the city a few miles south of the river. The reason? Money.
The original community in the area was Millerton, located along the river where the Friant Dam is today. Millerton was also the county seat, the old courthouse has been moved and restored and overlooks the dam and lake today.
When the railroad arrived it created the city of Fresno in order to sell the land around the station. The city of Fresno became the economic center and county seat.
Northward growth of Fresno has now reached the San Joaquin River.

We used to have rivers in Southern California. They are still there, but they are just concrete ditches and not very pretty looking anymore so that there isn't flooding.
