Hi all,

I'm plan on moving with a family of 4 (Me and my husband and our 2 children), end of 2016-early 2017, to California!! We haven't really got a place in mind yet, and I don't have family in California anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions a to where the best schools are, nice residential areas/ neighbourhoods? It's a big jump moving from London, UK, to California.... Well for us anyway!

Thought to ask the people of California, as... Well, you know it best and we wouldn't know where to start looking!

Thanks!

We wouldn't know where to start advising you to move, without knowing what your field is, where the jobs in your field/s are, an approximate budget, and so forth.

Hello! Saying you're moving to "California" is a bit like saying "Europe," in that there is a high variety of climates---desert, ocean, mountain, valley and more; rural/town/small city/world-class city lifestyles; ranches/apartments/condos/townhouses/single-family houses dwellings. And especially, how much can you afford? Buying or renting? Public or private schools?

Ya know .... ah forget it. geez. why the need to be like this? i don't get it. if you're not into helping someone, Why post at all?
do you feel better and bigger after you tease / belittle someone?

Newbi_1 ... 90210 is a beverly hills zip code which, unless you have a lot of money, won't be what you're looking for.
And like nightlysparrow said, you need to provide a lot more information about all aspects of what you want and need and can afford.
California is a huge state and it's diverse both ecologically and re; the people.
And the California that you might be dreaming about may very well not be the California you can afford. Almost all of coastal California is extremely expensive re; housing (whether you're renting of buying).
It's the "California dream" that many are wanting but few can have.

Actually, London price expectations should fit accordingly with "expensive California".
Use this map for educational performance, just zoom in on areas of interest:

Maybe it was a little snarky, but I can understand the sentiment. When people ask very general questions, it's hard to help them, and that can be frustrating. Since these sort of vague questions are very common on CD, it wears on you after a while. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say.
