To those who hold a contemptuous view of Californias Central Valley, yep. I admit it. It isn't and never will be Venice Beach, the Taj Mahal, or Las Vegas.

Here are six insipid views I too with my own camera. All in a relatively small area.

All except # 6 were taken in 2015.

# 6 was taken in 2016.

#5 reminds me of some of the backcountry areas of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. I quite like that!

Where'd they get the rain to make everything so green in 2015 and 2016? Do they have their own local rain god? or are they using groundwater? I guess the bit of rain that's come in from the lackluster El Nino could have brightened things up a bit for the 2016 photo.

Now show us pictures taken in September

The Central Valley can absolutely be beautiful. Even the desert has its moments (poppies, anyone?), but so much of the year is just so disgusting it doesn't make the nice parts worth it.

Of course this is only my opinion and people have different preferences

Fabulous Fresno, in all its Fresno-like glory (June 2015).

I love the Central Valley. One of my favorite parts of the state.

What do you expect from the bottom of an old inland sea filled in with sediment for eons.

Really beautiful during rainy season. During the dry season or a drought year? Not so much. It is amazing how much it changed. I went to Yosemite in October and it looked like Meth-death valley. Some areas were so parched it was turning from brown to GREY.

Thank god for this El Nino.
