My impression of Ventura is that it was somewhat cheap once, but now pretty expensive. Crime, on the other hand, seems to be getting more random in terms of street crime, strong-arm robberies, assaults, and crimes involving weapons (shootings, stabbings). Maybe it's related to drug and homeless issues, not sure, but it wasn't like that so much 10, 20, 30 years ago?

What are the crime issues in Eureka? My understanding is that drugs and associated misery (welfare, poverty, joblessness) are a strong reality in other parts of "The State of Jefferson," Crescent City, Brookings, Grants Pass... True?
